This is the second week of my summer vacation and this week I’ve decided to not work in an attempt to slow things a bit. So far, it doesn’t seem to have made much of a difference. There is so much that I’ve put off because I’ve been busy with work, and now that I can’t use this excuse, suddenly there are a million things on my Todo-list. Perhaps I should just go back to work … It would be a lot less hassle.
But no, I need to spend some time with the neglected family and I need to catch up with all the other things that I’ve put off this last year and I need to seriously charge my batteries before I can take on the task that lies ahead. I’ve never written a sequel before, and it is a bit scary. Right now I don’t have time for writing but I’m working the story over in my brain, trying to find the problems and solve them before I spend hours and days writing words that I won’t be able to use because it doesn’t fit somehow. I’m not much of a plotter, but I need to cut down on unnecessary writing to spare my poor wrists. I should also spend some time with my Dragon dictation software and see if I can get it to understand my Swenglish. It would make a world of difference if I didn’t need to type each and every word that I want to put in my books.
|No, not this type of Dragon, but just as challenging!|
I’ve promised my youngest a Swedish edition of Konrad and the Birthday Painting, and it will probably be out in August. There’s just some formatting and proofing that needs to be done, and perhaps another website … No, I think I’ll stick to this one for now. There are so many technical things to this indie publishing that I never imagined would take up so much of my time and energy. It is one of the most difficult parts, to balance the need for something against the potential gains from it. I could spend all my time on blogging and promoting and linking up sign-up forms to a mailing list and updating author pages, but then I would never write another book. My Swedish readers will have to make do with a landing page on my Swedish blog.
Which I will do some other day. Today I’m going to clear a month’s worth of weeds from my allotment and see if there are any blueberries, raspberries or gooseberries underneath all the mess! Wish me luck …
